Meteor Crater
Yesterday we decided to take a "short" trip over to see Meteor Crater near Winslow, Arizona. Well, what I thought was a short trip turned out to be more than a two hour drive... one way! Oh well, that's okay, I didn't have anything to do at home except decorate for Christmas, and that can wait a couple more days. Once we arrived at the Meteor Crater, we had a good time. There is lots to see there and we learned very interesting facts about meteors and comets. Such as, "A huge iron-nickel meteorite or dense cluster of meteorites, estimated to have been about 150 feet across and weighing several hundred thousand tons, struck the rocky plain with an explosive force greater than 20 million tons of TNT."
We spent about three hours visiting Meteor Crater... taking an hour to tour the rim with a guide and then viewing a short film about what is believed to have taken place when the meteor hit the earth. We finished up by checking out the souvenir shop.
After leaving Meteor Crater, Gary wanted to take me for a photo op in Winslow, Arizona (yes, the same place mentioned in the Eagles song.) I will soon have photos posted in my Photo Gallery. After several photos were taken, we found a very quaint Dairy Queen at which to indulge my sweet tooth and chocolate craving. My blizzard was very yummy!

Thanksgiving 2003
Happy Thanksgiving! I know, I know, Thanksgiving is over... But we were out of town and I just got the chance to sit down to write. We were invited to spend Thanksgiving with Don and Dolores in Phoenix. Don is Gary's co-worker. Our weekend started out with Gary breaking a tooth on Tuesday, so first thing Wednesday we had to leave the house at 5:00am in order to make an 8:30am dental appointment in Flagstaff. We arrived on time and after about an hour, and much money spent, we were leaving the dentist office. We then visited a scrapbooking store (one of my interests) before starting off on a leisurely trip south towards Phoenix. Before going to Phoenix, we decided to detour to a little ghost town called Jerome. Very quaint. Once we were back on the road to Phoenix... we eventually encountered mucho traffico! We finally arrived at Don's house around 5:30pm... a very long day. You will find pictures in my photo gallery. Enjoy!

I'm Getting There...
I made some changes and it's starting to look pretty good. I added links to my Photo Gallery as well as a site that I put together when I started losing weight with Weight Watchers. It's actually working! YAY!
