Filler

Well, this is Dj. I noticed all the entries have moved off the main page so thought I would post something. If I remember correctly, her daughter graduated from basic training Saturday. I wish her daughter well in her Air Force career. Hopefully, Teresa will be back soon.

We're Off!

I've been spending the morning doing laundry and organizing our stuff, getting ready for our trip to Texas. We leave very early tomorrow to begin our long drive to San Antonio. Our daughter is graduating from Air Force boot camp on Friday and of course we want to be there. Her husband is meeting us there, as he is traveling from PA, while we are in AZ. I'm so excited and ready to take lots of pictures! Needless to say, there will be no blog entries for about a week or so. We should be home next Tuesday night.

Happy Birthday Gary!

Today is my husband's birthday. Why is it so hard to find a gift for some men? Well, at least it was taken out of my hands this year. Hehe... I gave him a beautiful card, but he managed to buy himself a limited edition, NOT inexpensive sword from the Lord of the Rings. Our computer room now sports two very nice LOTR swords and various other collectible blades. Happy, happy birthday, my love!

Oh My Aching....

legs!! Our friends visiting AZ from PA came to see us this weekend and of course we showed them some of the local sights. They arrived on Saturday, spent the night and went back to Sedona on Sunday. Shortly after they arrived, we took them to a Navajo Pow Wow and had them experience Navajo Frybread. We had a good time seeing all the colorful costumes of the dancers.

Around 1:30, we decided it was time to proceed on our little tour of the area and we took them over to the Canyon de Chelly (pronounced de Shay.) Whomever decided it would be a great idea to walk down the trail to the bottom of the canyon, should be shot!! If memory serves, 1.5 miles plus 1.5 miles equals 3.0 miles, does it not? Well the sign says it is 1.5 miles down the trail and 2.5 miles round trip. Hmmm... something must've gotten lost in the translation... it was definitely FIVE MILES round trip!! Now, walking 3 miles or even 5 miles would normally be no problem for me; however, this was no ordinary walk. The trail consisted of alternately rocky, sandy and steep terrain. Fortunately not long after when began our descent, I happened upon a very nice walking stick which someone had abandoned. It came in handy going down and definitely on the way back up! Did I mention, that the husbands walked ahead of us, rather quickly... WITH OUR WATER!!

Anyway, the trip was worth the pain but OMG! I could barely move this morning! Took aspirin and went back to bed until it took affect.

On Sunday morning, we drove up to Four Corners, USA, to show our visitors the monument there. Not a lot happening there this early in the season, but we took pictures and tried to stay warm while checking out the few vendors that were there. Gary and continued on to town for our weekly groceries, while our friends went the other direction to see Monument Valley. Another quite interesting area to visit. You can find pictures in my gallery.

We're Back!

We had a wonderful weekend traveling down to Phoenix and then to Sedona, Arizona. Our visit to Phoenix was primarily for me to have my nails done and I included a glorious pedicure this time! ;-) Yes, it is a five hour drive, one way, for me to have my nails done, but I was desperate! The nail shop I was going to in Farmington, our regular Saturday town visit, was getting to be a pain. Literally! They hurt my fingers every time and the quality of service was going downhill fast. Anyway, I had a great manicure and pedicure and we enjoyed our visit with friends in Phoenix.

On Sunday we continued on to Sedona, to a pre-arranged rendezvous with friends from Pennsylvania. It just so happened that our friends were using their Time Share in Sedona and since it was relatively convenient for us, we went by to see them. We took them to see our favorite Arizona Ghost Town, Jerome and just enjoyed visiting... So much walking! LOL! They will be driving up to our place in a few days and we will show them the Canyon de Chelly, as well as Four Corners, USA, before pointing them in the direction of Monument Valley on their way back to Sedona. There really is a lot of interesting sights in this area.

Twenty five years ago, today...

...exactly 29 minutes from now, our son was born. It's so hard to believe this much time has gone by. Where have the years gone? And where is my little boy? (sorry to sound so melancholy) Well, in answer to that question, my "little boy" is in Myrtle Beach, SC with about a dozen friends for Spring Break. They got a bargain price on a condo for the week and I know they are having a blast! This is a very welcome respite before they all graduate from college (some already have,) get "real" jobs, and get on with their adult lives. In all likelihood, it will be difficult for these close friends to get together after this vacation. My son, for one, anticipates getting married and moving out of state for employment. Still don't know which state, but it's unlikely to be his current one. And life goes on...

Found a great show on TV tonight!

The 60s Pop and Rock Reunion. Oh, the memories this music brings back. I guess that dates me, but I sure enjoy those songs of old...;-) Gary Lewis and the Playboys, Tommy James and the Shondells, Mark Lindsey, Chad and Jeremy... lots more. All on the PBS television station.

Blogs affect our lives, how?

I came across a funny story about how blogging changes things. I found it at GenealogyBlog.com, but it orginally came from the Village Voice in New York City, and you can read the entire essay there. Very funny and certainly relevant to today's life. Enjoy!

Snow in Arizona

It's Friday and here are some lovely pictures of snowy, Many Farms, Arizona. We woke up to frosting-like snow covering everything except the street. Obviously it's not cold enough for it to stay long, but it sure is pretty. See more pictures at my gallery.

Monday Madness

How many hours do you spend per week doing the following things? Have a great week!! And thanks for playing Monday Madness!! =)

I think I did this wrong since most of my answers are daily hours.
1. Watching television: The TV is on from about 10:00am until after midnight virtually every day except Saturday. I may or may not actually be watching it! LOL!
2. Sitting at the computer: At least 12 hours a day... wow, I really DON'T have a life.
3. Reading a book : I am trying to read for about an hour each day. It probably should be more, but it's a start.
4. House work: HAHAHA!
5. Cooking: I only "cook" one meal a day, so probably about an hour a day.
6. Eating: I would say no more than 14-15 hrs a week. I rarely eat between meals.
7. Driving: I doubt that I drive more than 2 hours in a week, and that's because the nearest town is than far away. We only go to town once a week.
8. Working outside of your home: Zero
9. Blogging: Probably no more than 7-10 hrs a week. That may increase once I get a little better organized.
10. Sleeping: About 49 hrs a week. I try to sleep 7 hrs a night.
