Earlier this month a pack of stray cats took a liking to our back porch. I believe they were sleeping under the porch. It was actually quite annoying since the smell from them "spraying" the door was getting pretty bad. One kitty in particular kept trying to get inside and was very friendly. All the others were afraid of people. As we were having bitter cold weather, I made a little bed from a box and towels for the kitty... and did a big no-no when I gave her food and water. To make a long story short, my husband said I may as well make a vet appointment for the kitty and bring her inside. I've never had a cat before so this is a very new experience. The appointment for Tora is this Saturday. She has been inside since we brought home a litter box last Saturday. She is a real sweetie. Don't you agree?

**************** UPDATE ********************
Tora is no longer with us. She was in the midst of being "in heat" and just couldn't stay inside. She ultimately made her way out of the house and was gone for a couple of days. Of course this means she is very likely pregnant and we are not going to choose to deal with kittens, so she is gone. A neighbor started feeding her a while ago and now we haven't seen Tora, so have to assume she has been adopted by another caring person. 2/2/2005
1. From Mel... Do you have a favorite 80's song?
Candle in the Wind - Elton John
2. From Luzja... What's the biggest event in your life to date?
This is a tough question... Nothing can be better than having a child, yet there have been a few major events in my life. Meeting my husband of 30 years, making the huge commitment to lose weight, once and for all, moving away from friends and my job to join my husband in Arizona. These are just a few...
3. From Amy... What's one more thing during your lifetime you would like to learn how to do well?
I think I would like to learn how to crochet and/or knit well enough to make beautiful things for my future grandchildren.
4. From Susan... what is your earliest childhood memory?
I remember when I was about 5 years old, attending kindergarten. I got in trouble because I wanted to hold hands with a boy and he didn't want to. The boy was my best friend who lived near me and I was nervous about not knowing anyone else in the class.
5. From LDH... What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?
You got me! LOL!
6. From Beverly and Rosie... Where, When and What is your most favorite memory?
My most favorite memory is in November 2003, when a friend paid for me to spend an amazing week in California. We drove from Sacremento to Monterey to San Fransisco and back up to Fairfield. My favorite visit during this trip was staying overnight in Santa Cruz in a hotel with a balcony right on the beach. AWESOME!!
7. From Shirl...Do you fit in?
Excellent question... Many times I don't feel like I fit in, but since I lost almost 80 pounds, I at least feel like I have a "normal sized" body. I don't have very good self-esteem a lot of the time and sometimes I am really depressed. I just keep reminding myself that things always change and there will be better times.
8. From Sherle... Tell me your favorite recipe then go to Recipe Swap and share it with all of us!
My current favorite is a recipe making Garlic Shrimp. We will be having this for dinner tonight along with sauteed fresh asparagus.
1. From Briar... and Sherle... What's your favorite TV show and why?
There are several that I watch every week, but probably "Joan of Arcadia" is my favorite. I enjoy watching how Joan resolves the "suggestions" that God gives her.
2. From WickedSway... What's your sign?
Gemini
3. From Beth... Why is common sense so uncommon?
Good question... I firmly believe that some people are born without common sense. My husband and son are cases in point. LOL!
4. From Bug... What are 5 (or 10) great things about your life partner?
He is the most supportive person in my life.
He loves me.
He is a great father.
He is a caring husband.
He understands me, even if he doesn't have much common sense.
5. From Elena... Why do you blog? Are you a writer at heart? Is it a passion? Or because it's en vogue?
<strong>This is really hard. When I started this I was interested in keeping friends and family up to date on my life, since we live far away from family. None of the comments above pertain to me very much. I am currently not very good at keeping my blog updated, but I plan to start doing better.
6. From Lady Starlight... How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
HA HA HA!
7. From tmk... Fiction or nonfiction?
Usually fiction.
8. From Moody... If you were an animal, which animal would you like to be, and why?
I think I would like to be a polar bear. They are strong and so cute! LOL!
