Ok, I thought we'd do something a little different this week. Are you up for it??

First of all, choose a letter of the alphabet. Now, choose a number 1-10.
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
Got a letter? Got a number? Here's this week's challenge:
Using the letter you chose, write down 3 (number you chose) things that describe the current season where you live. (You don't necessarily have to begin each word with the letter you chose.) Also, if you chose a low number and would like to choose a higher one, feel free! =)

1) Cold

2) iCy rain

3) Cloudy skies

Sick Puppy

I feel so bad for our puppy, Cassie. She started coughing over the weekend and it sounds horrible. I'm pretty sure she has contracted "kennel cough" from Samson, who we rescued from the Humane Society a little over two weeks ago. They have both had their shots, but received the "kennel cough" vaccine a little over a week ago. So if Samson was carrying the Bordetella virus, then Cassie was exposed before the shot. I'm not trying a assign blame... I just want my "baby" well again. Samson goes in for neutering on Valentine's Day so If Cassie is worse, we will take her in as well. From what I understand, unless there are complications, "kennel cough" just has to run its course, like the common cold.

The following questions are compliments of Elena......Thanks, Elena!! =) Hope everyone will have a wonderful week!

DVD's

1. Are you more likely to rent or buy DVD's (VHS's)? Why? Buy... we usually see movies at the theater, so we know which ones we would like to own.
2. If you rent DVD's, do you bother viewing the 'Behind the Scenes' or watching the entire movie again with commentary on? No
3. Do you think these features warrant the extra cost for DVD? (Afterall, we were able to buy new release VHS for $9.99 prior to DVD). Not usually. Occasionally there may be special interviews or information that would be nice to see.

I thought we'd do some 'fill in the blanks' questions again; have fun! =)

1. My lucky number is 13.

3. I spend about 2 hours on the phone a week, and all of those are long distance.
4. My favorite cereal is Kashi Good Friends.
5. One hobby of mine is scrapbooking.
6. I wish I could spend more time traveling.
7. I wish I could spend less time depressed.
8. I am really proud of my husband and children.

We've just begun a new calendar year, so this has inspired me to ask the following...

Name...
1. The most exciting thing that happened in your life this past year. Hearing about our son's first "real" job after graduating from college.
2. Three resolutions that you've thought about making. This is a tough one... especially since my main one has already been broken. I planned on resolving to make a blog entry every day. Hasn't happened... Another is to lose at least 30 lbs this year and probably the third would be to get more exercise.
3. Your biggest accomplishment this past year. I sure haven't accomplished much. Can't think of one thing that I could be proud of. :(
4. Your biggest challenge this past year. Being supportive of my children, but not butting in...
5. Something you tried for the first time (whether it be food, a sport, a hobby, etc.) I started making greeting cards instead of buying them.
...and this next one comes from Andrea...
6. Name 3 (or however many) things that happened this year that you did not anticipate happening.
a) Our son called off his wedding three months before the event.
b) Our daughter joined the Air Force.
c) Our daughter canceled her "formal" wedding (she had already gotten married)

And on the flip side, name 3 (or however many) things that didn't happen this year that you expected to happen. These could be personal things, professional things, national things, things in the news; anything really.
a) Our son did not get married.

...and this one comes from Storyteller...
7. Where do you (or WOULD you) go for inspiration when you run out of questions for a meme? I don't generally try to think of questions.
8. Something you'd like to accomplish (or do) this coming year that you didn't get a chance to do last year. I would really like to attend a scrapbooking convention or weekend event and visit with my friends.

Happy New Year, everyone! And thank you for playing Monday Madness with us!! =)

1) Which holiday do you celebrate this time of year? (If necessary, modify the following questions to suit your holiday.)Christmas
2) Do you begin shopping for gifts earlier than Thanksgiving, looking for the perfect gift? If not, when do you begin? All during the year I will pick up gifts for family members if I run across the "perfect gift."
3) Do you only purchase gifts that you know are perfect for the recipient and if you don't find that gift, do you just get anything? I always try to get something I think the person will enjoy.
4) Did you receive or give any "obligatory" gifts this year? No
5) Do you decorate your tree as evenly as possible or do you skip the areas that are not visible? We try to cover the entire tree but don't bother if a section of the tree is up against a wall.
6) Do you like multi-colors on your tree or do you prefer monochrome? Multicolor
7) Did you bake "traditional" cookies, frost them and decorate them? No cookies. or did you cheat and buy the ready to bake kind? (like I tried) Neither.
8) Are you the host of a holiday gathering? which one? family, work, friends? No. We've always gone to my parents. This year we went to our daughter's home but I cooked.9) With whom do you spend the holiday?
10) How did the holiday turn out? Perfectly? funny mishaps? miss anyone? We had a good holiday, visiting with both our kids. We drove to our daughter's house and our son flew in from across the country. It was wonderful!

Happy New Year??

I know... it's a little late for this greeting (it's only a month late!) Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and looking forward to Valentine's Day.

We have two new additions to our family. For Christmas, our daughter and son-in-law gave us a cute puppy (previously cleared by us.) They found Cassie (short for Cassandra) at a shelter. Cassie is half Rottweiler and the other half is lab mix, and a VERY active pup! Daughter was very helpful (not!) in training Cassie to sleep in our bed, so she wouldn't whine and cry all night. It's working out okay though.

Our second new family member is Samson. On Saturday, January 22nd, we rescued this very nice yellow lab mix from certain death. The shelter personnel were "nice" enough to inform us that the three labs (two black and one yellow) we were interested in, had outlived their stay as of the following Monday. Samson has been extremely helpful in keeping Cassie busy! They get along very well and are great companionship for each other. We are grateful since Cassie was quickly wearing us out with her "demanding ways." LOL!
