Scraps for the week

I actually took the time and finished two more spreads in the album about my daughter's engagement and wedding. Seven pages complete! Somewhat of a record for me, even if it is a 7X7" album. I'm working on a separate page to share my layouts... so bear with me. ;o)

My First Layouts of 2004

I spent all day today working on a 7" X 7" album about my daughter and her husband. I'm using the Promise album from Creative Memories since the bulk of the layouts will be wedding pictures. Here are the engagement layouts. A little background... After asking my husband's permission, our daughter's boyfriend picked just the right moment and took her fishing! While out on a lake in a boat, surrounded by flying bugs and bats, the proposal took place. My husband wrote the journaling and titled it "Bait, Bugs and Bats!" Very apropo...

Byers Title Page.jpg This is the title page for the album. The background paper is from a Spiritual package purchased at hsn.com. I used a paper doily to frame the photo, trimmed with a circle cutter. The name journaling was done on the computer using a 48 pt font.

Byers Engaged 1.jpg This view has the journaling hidden in a pocket made with silver cardstock, adhered to the page with white eyelets. Jolees roses sitckers embellish the pocket, along with a "diamond" ring and Gordon's Jewelers box which I made by scanning an actual box. I scanned the engagement announcement from the newspaper, reduced it and printed on acid free paper.
Byers Engaged 2.jpg Here is the view showing the journaling pulled out of the pocket.

Byers Engagement thumbnail.jpgThis one illustrates the romantic marriage proposal to my daughter, while fishing in a boat. I used paper tearing for the boat, sillouetted the couple, adding bug buttons, and stickers. The night sky is navy mulberry paper. It is impossible in the photo to read the banner under the moon, but it says Hooked On You.
